The Author

My name is Gwendolyn Gholson-Driver Ed.D.  I grew-up in Gary, Indiana and graduated from Roosevelt High School.   My father was a supervisor at the Gary’s Steel Mill coal plant. Robbie and Robert Gholson had 13 children and I was number 9 which is a question that I am asked often.  Our family MOTO is “education is the vehicle to freedom!” We were our own community. We took care of each other. We loved each other.  We were spiritually guided, learned to be leaders in our community, and were encouraged to pursue our own destinies.  We were taught how to problem solve at a very early age. The family lived on a very frugal budget from most important to less important spending habits.  Lots of love was generated in that very special home.
