I have been an educator for over forty years. Teaching is stressful and the educational system does not in many cases appreciate your hard work. You are the the most important people and leaders of our society. Teachers are leaders. One of the most important things I learned in my experience is to love “myself”. We are overworked underpaid and sometimes put down because of the following:
- You don’t feel valued, huge problem !
- Lack of autonomy in the classroom setting
- Lack of having influence in designing your classroom for academics for your students
- Lack of input regarding standards and core curriculum
- Lack of input in professional development
- Lack of input about discipline policies in the schools
- Lack of not being appreciated and respected
The stress is real for teachers. As a teacher you learned to take charge of your classroom as a leader. When that is taken from you it is demoralizing and frustrating. SO the first thing you need to do is to eliminate the stress is by taking care of yourself.
1. What do you do for your self care?
2. How can you be your best advocate?
3. Instead of stressing out what can you do to better your health?
It is about taking care of you! Loving yourself through health and wellness! Ready? Let’s talk!
