F.O.M.O-Controlling the Youth

F.O.M.O simply stands for the fear of missing out. This anxiety and pressure, which many students experience is a normal feeling, as everyone wants to fit in. The want to be included has drove human beings to forget themselves to fit in. As humans we feed off constant connections and interaction, and when one does not experience this feeling they are often willing to go to the extreme to be “liked”. Teens want to belong and to be accepted. With the introduction of drugs and alcohol at parties at a very young age, with a lack of parent supervision, many students are compelled to try things pre-maturely to fit in with a particular group. In recent years, the drugs out on the market have never been so chemically infused, addictive, and unhealthy putting many students at risk for later physical and mental health issues.
